The questions everyone asks.

Plans, commission, merch, payments, your music, and how ENKORE fits alongside the distributor you already use. Can't find your answer? Write to info@enkoremusic.africa or use the contact page.

Plans, payments and your music

What does the commission cap mean?

On every selling plan, once ENKORE has collected R50,000.00 in commission from you within any rolling 365 days (R100,000.00 for bands and choirs), we stop taking a cut for the rest of that window. It is a rolling window, not a calendar year, and it is the same on every plan.

Every paid plan works out at R200.00 a month. What am I actually choosing?

Commitment. Soundcheck is billed monthly at 15%. Mainstage is billed every six months at 12% with bi-weekly payouts. Headliner is billed yearly at 10% with weekly payouts. The monthly cost is the same, and the terms get better the longer you commit.

How is merch priced?

ENKORE makes and ships every merch order under the For His Glory brand. For each item we set a base price that covers production and delivery. You set your selling price above it and keep everything above the base price, with no commission on merch.

How do I pay for my plan?

You pay your plan fee in advance for each term, from the Money page in your account, through PayFast or, for musicians in Nigeria, Kyshi. No card is kept on file and nothing is charged automatically. Commission is separate: it comes off each sale as it happens and is never invoiced.

Who pays the payment processor's fees on sales?

On a paid plan, we do. They are covered by our commission, so you are never charged them separately and the price you list is the price the fan pays. During a Season of Singing free term, ENKORE takes no commission, so the fees charged by PayFast and Kyshi are deducted from your sales instead. Payment-provider commissions range from 2% to 3% of each sale, and they are the only deduction (see section 16.2A of the Terms of Service).

Can I change plan later?

Yes. You can move to a different plan from the Billing page in your account. Nothing you have built moves or breaks.

Do I give up rights to my music?

No. You keep ownership of your music, including your masters and publishing, on every plan. ENKORE is a place to sell, not a label.

What if I earn nothing in a month?

On the paid plans the plan fee applies whether or not you sell, which is why the calculator on the Pricing page is worth using before you choose.

Why can't I sell on Connect?

Connect is for claiming your page and building a list that stays with you, and it is opening soon. Selling, ticketing and payouts need verification and a payment account, so they unlock on Soundcheck.

Can I join as a DJ/Producer if I have not released any music yet?

Yes. You can apply as a DJ/Producer without any released music. You must run Christian events and play Christian music. To go live you need three things in place: at least one merch item, an upcoming event, and bookings switched on with the dates you are available. Bookings are the heart of ENKORE, because they are how organisers and fans find and hire you.

How long until I hear back after I apply?

We read every application ourselves and reply within 3 to 14 working days.

If you already use a distributor

Do I still need my distributor, like DistroKid, Ditto, CD Baby or TuneCore?

Yes, if you want your music on streaming services. ENKORE is not a distributor and does not send music to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Boomplay or Audiomack. Keep the distributor you already use for that. ENKORE is where your fans buy from you directly: your music as a download, your merch, your tickets and your bookings.

Do I have to leave my distributor or stop using it?

No. The licence you give ENKORE is non-exclusive (Terms, section 4), and ENKORE only uses your music to run your store and promote it. Nothing about using ENKORE changes how your distributor handles your music.

Can I sell a song that is already on streaming services?

Yes, as long as you control the rights to it. Distributors usually do not stop you selling your own music directly, but their terms differ, so read yours to be sure.

Will selling on ENKORE affect my streaming royalties?

No. Your distributor keeps collecting and paying your streaming royalties as before. Sales on ENKORE are separate and are paid by ENKORE under your plan. ENKORE does not currently report your sales to streaming services or to chart companies, so they do not add to your stream counts.

Why would a fan buy from me on ENKORE when they can stream my songs?

Because they want to back you. A stream pays a fraction of a cent. A download, a ticket or a piece of merch from a fan who wants to support you pays you directly, and you build a list of the people who buy from you.

What about my songwriter's society or my publishing administrator?

Streaming royalties collected by a society, your distributor or a publishing administrator are separate and stay with you. For sales on ENKORE, you tell us at upload whether a songwriter is affiliated with SAMRO, CAPASSO, SAMPRA or another society (Terms, section 3), and the Terms allow ENKORE to deduct and pass on that society's share (section 5.3). If you are not sure how this applies to your music, write to info@enkoremusic.africa before you upload.

Can I sell covers or songs with samples?

Only if you hold written permission from the rights holder for both the recording and the composition (Terms, section 3). A licence that lets your distributor put a cover on streaming services may not cover selling it directly, so check that yours does.

Will ENKORE offer distribution to streaming services?

Not today. We plan to look at distribution partners later. If we add any, we will tell you. Until then, keep the distributor you have: your ENKORE page works alongside it.

Ready when you are.

Applying is free. We read every application ourselves and reply within 3 to 14 working days.
